History of Bhongir Fort
The Bhongir Fort, built around a massive monolithic rock structure of about 500 feet height, spread across an impressive area of 50 acres, is a sight to behold. It is named after the Chalukya ruler Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya VI who built it in the 10th century. It was later ruled by the Kakatiya Dynasty, The Bahamani Sultans and then by the Qutub Shahis who used it as a prison. The walls and archways built with stones are still intact, providing a hint of the architectural splendour it once was.
